Day 1:
Following our pick-ups this morning, we will travel to Belfast to board the 07:30 hrs Stena Line ferry to Cairnryan. From Cairnryan, we will begin our journey south, making a brief comfort stop at Castle Douglas if required, before proceeding swiftly to Gretna where we will have a lunchtime comfort break. Moving on then we travel eastbound towards Hexham & Newcastle where we are due to arrive at our hotel mid-afternoon giving us time to settle in before dinner.
Day 2:
Depart Hotel 10:00hrs
Our excursion today will take us to ‘The Living Museum of the North’ - Beamish Museum. This worldfamous open-air museum tells the story of life in North East England during the Georgian, ictorian, and Edwardian periods. Guests can enjoy unlimited rides on the beautifully restored trams and replica buses, explore a working farm, stroll through an authentic town street, discover the colliery, and even sample traditional fish and chips from a coal-fired chip shop! You will be reminded of the old unds, shillings and pence, and the good old penny pick’n’mix in the sweet shop. What divine memories! The day continues with some free time to explore Newcastle upon Tyne.
Day 3:
Depart Hotel 10:00hrs
Our excursion today will take us on a leisurely journey through the picturesque Durham Dales, an officially designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Our route brings us to the delightful market town of Barnard Castle, where we can stroll through the traditional Market and soak up the atmosphere.
Day 4:
Depart Hotel 09:00hrs
Today we will travel to Northumberland to visit the magnificent Alnwick Castle. Spend a couple of hours exploring the stunning castle grounds and being immersed in its rich history. We then return to the hotel, where we have time to relax and make the most of the leisure facilities. Please note: spa treatments must be pre-booked and are payable locally.
Day 5:
It is time to begin the journey home. We will travel back to Cairnryan, making a comfort stop as we
cross the border into Scotland. Gretna is a convenient stop with restaurant and tourist facilities easily accessible and where we can shop for any last-minute gifts. Moving on then, to Cairnryan, we will be checking in for the 15:30hrs ferry to Belfast and all to soon it will be time to say our good-byes.
