Day 1
Following our pick-ups this morning we’ll proceed on our journey south moving onto the N1. We'll travel as far as the Applegreen Services near Castlebellingham where we will have a comfort break. Refreshed we'll continue our journey and move down through Slane and on to Navan Town. We'll have a break with free time in Navan, the birthplace of the famous James Bond actor - Pierce Brosnan, and where the Rivers Boyne & Blackwater meet. We'll then continue with the last stage of our journey to our accommodation at the Bloomfield House Hotel, which is located on the outskirts of Mullingar. It is one of the most scenic parts of the country, surrounded by rolling pastures and beautiful loughs and is stunningly situated in its own grounds overlooking Lough Ennell. Time to unwind and enjoy some Irish hospitality. Our estimated time of arrival at the hotel - 16:30hrs.
Day 2
Today we will have an excursion to Athlone where we'll be taking a short river cruise. Sit back and relax. Listen to the ripple of the waters as we cruise along and learn some interesting points and see Athlone from a different angle. After our gentle cruise we will have free time. For those looking for some retail therapy, the town is packed with high street names and boutiques. We can also find some history here - the oldest pub in Europe along Main Street - Sean’s Bar. It’s close to Athlone’s 12th Century Castle - again a great place to spend some time.
Day 3
Today we will travel the short distance into our host town of Mullingar where we will have the opportunity to explore. Traditionally a market town but now a thriving town with retail outlets, main street shops and two shopping centres. The surrounding areas of Mullingar display some incredible heritage too. The beautiful Belvedere House & Gardens being well worth a visit. (Optional Extra)
Day 4
We’ll retrace our journey back along the N52, up to the Applegreen Service area where we'll have a comfort stop. We’ll continue our journey north towards Banbridge where we'll make a final stop with free time at the Boulevard (Outlet Centre). Refreshed and ready to move on, it's time to say our fond farewells as we begin the last stage of our journey home together.
